The whole idea started when during the pandemic in 2020 I decided to get away from the computer screen and to use my hands to make something tangible. As an artist, I’m intrigued by the intersection between the manufactured and organic.
When looking at the map we naturally pay attention to the streets that will lead us to our destination. But what about the forms of the buildings or the open space that is surrounded by them? The “binnentuinen” as they are called in Dutch.
With this project, I focus on the “binnentuinen” of our neighborhood the Staatsliedenbuurt. If you look at the map and focus on the binnentuinen, very soon you will realize how interesting the forms are. Leave your imagination and let yourself see dogs, crocodiles, tired people, happy people, microscopes, and whatever your free mind can bring.
